About Cytoplan’s pregnancy multivitamin
Cytoplans advanced, high-potency pregnancy supplement delivers safe, gentle and effective nutrients, just as nature intended, to help nourish you and your baby through your pregnancy journey, from preconception through to breastfeeding.
Pregna-Plan includes all the nutrients you need for a healthy pregnancy journey. It features beta carotene, which can be converted to vitamin A as required (vitamin A is generally not recommended to supplement directly in pregnancy). It also includes bio-effective ‘bisglycinate’ forms of magnesium, zinc and iron, which are very well-absorbed and used by the body and includes the active forms of folic acid, vitamin B6 and B12.
Folic acid for pregnancy: Pregna-Plan includes the government recommended levels of folate (folic acid), essential for the baby’s growth and development, supporting a healthy pregnancy and preventing neural tube defects, including spina bifida. Methylfolate is the most bio-effective form of folate and is much easier for the body to use.
More than just a pregnancy multivitamin: Pregna-Plan is uniquely enriched with added phytonutrients – ginger, lutein, and blueberry. Lutein, a carotenoid found in dark green and orange coloured fruits, supports the baby’s eye health. Ginger has a long history of traditional use for soothing the gut, especially in relation to the nausea (‘morning sickness’) that can occur in pregnancy. Blueberries are rich in antioxidants.
When to start taking prenatal vitamins?: It’s best to start taking prenatal vitamins before you become pregnant, ideally while trying to conceive. This helps to build up essential nutrients such as folic acid, vitamin D, iron and B12, which support your baby’s early development, especially during the first few weeks. If you discover you are already pregnant and haven’t started yet, begin taking your pregnancy supplement as soon as possible. Consistent use throughout pregnancy helps support your baby’s growth and your overall health, ensuring both of you get the nutrients needed from conception to birth.
What are the most important vitamins in pregnancy?: All vitamins and minerals are important during pregnancy, as they work together to support both your health and your baby’s development. However, a few key nutrients are especially vital.
Folic Acid: Folic acid is one of the most important prenatal vitamins, helping to support normal neural tube development in the early weeks of pregnancy and reducing the risk of birth defects.
Vitamin B12: Vitamin B12 works closely with folic acid to support the formation of red blood cells and the development of your baby’s nervous system.
Vitamin D: Vitamin D for pregnancy – helps regulate calcium levels, supporting healthy bones, teeth and immune function for both mother and baby.
Iron: Iron is also essential, as it helps your body produce more blood to supply oxygen to your baby and can help prevent tiredness and anaemia.
While these nutrients are especially important, a well-formulated pregnancy supplement provides a complete balance of vitamins and minerals to support your wellbeing throughout every stage of pregnancy.
