Range of Microbiome Labs Probiotics

If you struggle with gas, bloating, constipation, diarrhoea, reflux, IBS or suspected SIBO, the Microbiome Labs range can feel overwhelming. This guide gives you a clear, consumer friendly way to choose where to start and how to build up safely.

Step 1: Your “foundation” probiotic - MegaSporeBiotic

For most people, the best first step is a broad, spore based probiotic that supports overall microbial balance and gut barrier function. The best starting point for most adults is MegaSporeBiotic

MegaSporeBiotic™ is a 100% spore based, multi strain probiotic designed to recondition the gut, promote microbial diversity and help maintain a healthy gut barrier and is best for:

  • Long standing bloating, mixed bowel habits, “sensitive gut”
  • A history of antibiotics, frequent infections or “IBS label”
  • General gut repair after years of stress, poor diet or travel

How to Use: For typical adult use: Start low and go slow – often 1 capsule every other day with food, gradually building to 2 capsules daily if tolerated (follow label directions and your practitioner’s guidance where possible). If you are very sensitive, have severe IBS or SIBO like symptoms, introduce MegaSporeBiotic gently and consider adding gut soothing support (see below) before prebiotics. You can also try HU58 which is a gentler probiotic to introduce first, before moving across to MegaSporeBiotic.

Step 2: Match products to common gut patterns

Use this section like a menu: find the pattern that sounds most like you and see which Microbiome Labs products best fit that picture.

Frequent diarrhoea, “holiday tummy”, post antibiotic upset

Key goals are stabilising bowel movements, supporting friendly flora and protecting the gut during or after antibiotic use.

RestorFlora™

RestorFlora is a combination of Saccharomyces boulardii plus Bacillus spore strains for dual action digestive flora support.

Best for:

  • Diarrhoea or very loose stools
  • "Dodgy tummy” when travelling or after food poisoning
  • Support during or immediately after antibiotics

How it fits: Can be used alongside MegaSporeBiotic for extra protection and faster recovery.

Example: If you are about to start antibiotics and usually get diarrhoea, RestorFlora plus MegaSporeBiotic is often used to support gut flora and reduce disruption.

Constipation, methane type SIBO/IMO, bloating that worsens later in the day

People with methane type overgrowth and sluggish bowels often need microbiome support plus very careful introduction of prebiotics.

  • MegaSporeBiotic
    • Role: Core probiotic to improve microbial diversity and support barrier function in methane related dysbiosis.
  • MegaPre™ (within the Total Gut Restoration protocol)
    • What it is: A “precision prebiotic” powder targeting specific beneficial bacteria rather than broadly feeding all microbes.
    • How it fits: Often introduced after you tolerate spores, and usually at a very low dose first, as prebiotics can initially increase gas in sensitive SIBO/IMO.

If constipation is severe or long standing, speak to a practitioner, as motility support, medications or further tests may still be needed alongside microbiome work. MegaMucosa and DigestMate might be a suitable product to introduce to help with constipation.

Reflux, heartburn, upper gut discomfort with or without bloating

With reflux and upper GI issues, the priorities are calming irritation, balancing microbial communities and supporting the gut barrier.

    • What it is: A 3 month protocol to recondition the microbiome, reinforce with targeted prebiotics and rebuild the gut lining.
    • Best for:
      • Reflux plus other gut issues (bloating, irregular bowels, food sensitivities)
      • Suspected “leaky gut” or long term gut stress
    • Caution: Sensitive individuals often start with HU58 or / and MegaMucosa then add MegaPre later to minimise gas and discomfort.

Suspected Candida or yeast overgrowth (thrush, fungal nails, sugar cravings plus gut symptoms)

Candida type overgrowth often sits alongside bloating, brain fog, fatigue and recurring vaginal or oral thrush.

    • What it is: A formula combining undecylenic acid and bee propolis to support healthy yeast balance and target the invasive forms of Candida.
    • Best for:
      • Recurrent thrush or athlete’s foot with digestive complaints
      • Strong sugar or refined carb cravings with bloating and fatigue
    • How it fits: Commonly paired with MegaMucosa to rebalance the microbiome while directly addressing yeast; start cautiously if you tend to “die off” reactions (temporary worsening symptoms as microbes shift).

If you have a history of liver disease, are pregnant or on multiple medications, do not start antifungal type supplements without medical advice.

Women who have issues with vaginal candida should use Vaginal Balance and RestorFlora together. As these two products support the vaginal microbiome and have downstream impacts specifically for women’s health.

Microbiome Labs Mycobalance

“I want to fix my gut properly, not just fire fight symptoms”

Some people prefer a structured, stepwise protocol rather than single products. Microbiome Labs built a full framework for this.

  • Total Gut Restoration (TGR) protocol
    • Components:
      • MegaPre – reinforce with targeted prebiotics.
      • MegaMucosa rebuild the mucosal barrier using dairy free immunoglobulins, amino acids and polyphenols.
  • Best for:
      • Mixed symptoms (bloating, IBS, reflux, food reactions, skin issues)
      • Known or suspected “leaky gut” and immune reactivity
      • Post infection or post antibiotic “never been well since”
  • Typical use: Usually run over about 3 months, adjusting the pace and dose to your sensitivity and goals.

This kind of protocol is where input from a practitioner adds the most value, especially if you have complex health history or multiple diagnoses.

Safe use, combinations and when to get help

  • Start one new product at a time where possible so you can tell what suits you.
  • Spore based probiotics are powerful; temporary gas or changes in stool can be normal as your microbiome shifts. If you have these initial symptoms you should reduce the dose, and slowly build up your tolerance.
  • If you have inflammatory bowel disease, are on immune suppressing drugs, chemotherapy or have a serious medical condition, do not start these products without supervision from your specialist team.
  • Many people eventually use combinations (for example MegaSporeBiotic + RestorFlora after antibiotics, or TGR (Total Gut Restoration) plus MegaMyco Balance in mixed yeast and IBS pictures), but dosing and timing are best personalised.
